Product Description

This flatbed short-wave infrared drying oven is designed for batch processing and laboratory-to-production scale drying of water-based coatings on flat or slightly curved substrates, especially molded pulp sheets, paperboard, wood panels, and composite boards. Short-wave IR penetrates deeper into water-based coatings, driving out moisture rapidly without overheating the core of heat-sensitive pulp materials. The adjustable lamp height and programmable pulsing allow fine-tuning of drying intensity to prevent blistering or cracking. Built with a compact footprint and plug-and-play operation, it is ideal for R&D labs, small-batch coating lines, or as a stand-alone unit for quality control.

FAQ

Q: Can this flatbed IR dryer handle molded pulp products with curved edges?
A: Yes – products up to 30 mm height can be dried effectively. For taller 3D products, we offer a customizable extended lamp clearance and optional side lamps.

Q: How do I avoid over-drying and scorching my pulp sheet?
A: The PWM control with short pulse duration (millisecond range) allows gentle heating. We provide customizable pre-set recipes for common pulp densities and coating weights. Also, a built-in infrared pyrometer option can control lamp power based on real-time surface temperature.

Q: Can I retrofit this unit to my existing coating line?
A: Yes – the flatbed can be integrated as a stand-alone manual station or with customizable conveyor adapters. We also offer a customizable pass-through tunnel extension for semi-continuous operation.
